CTE Alert – Contact Your State Senator and Representatives
And tell them you are behind the new proposal – Creating Quality Technical Educators Act.
Facts about the Creating Quality Technical Educators Act:
This new piece of legislation before the U.S. Senate would expand teacher training so there would be more Career and Technical Education instructors.
We want to shout out to Senators Tim Kaine of Virginia, Rob Portman of Ohio, Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin and Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia who are leading the way to introduce the Creating Quality Technical Educators Act.
This innovative and timely bill would create teacher residency grants, primary and secondary and post-secondary education partnerships ( elementary, middle and high schools and higher education institutions) to offer one-year teacher residencies to train prospective educators in CTE fields.
Quotes from Senators:
Senator Kaine comments “To strengthen our economy, we’ve got to ensure our education system meets the needs of the modern workforce,…One important way we can accomplish that is by ensuring we have enough high-quality CTE teachers in schools.”
“Quality CTE teachers play a key role in expanding access to high-quality programs and making sure more students and parents recognize the value of a CTE education, all of which helps lead to more and better job opportunities for students,” added Senator Portman.
“Career and technical education teachers play an important role in providing students with the knowledge and skills they need to secure good-paying jobs in industries that are critical to economic growth and development,” Capito said. “This legislation will help ensure students in West Virginia and throughout the country have access to CTE teachers who are well-prepared to set them up for success—both in school and in the workforce.”
Thank you again to Senators Tim Kaine of Virginia, Rob Portman of Ohio, Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin and Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia for realizing the importance of CTE for the future of our country.
