High School Delivers on Industry-Recognized Certifications and Continuous Education Good News

Haven’s Newest Web and Mobile Application Developers

Haven, Kansas March 31, 2020 – Two Haven High School students are the first Kansas high school students this year to earn International Industry-Recognized Certifications in Web and Mobile Application Development from the Web Professionals Association. The industry professional association WebProfessionals.org and the online courseware curriculum provider CTeLearning.com are proud to congratulate the Haven students for receiving their certifications.

Educators and Education Shines

Haven High School’s Jessica Wilson, and Cory and Jevon’s very proud instructor, shared her thoughts about when she got word HHS was going to a continued education remote teaching model. “As USD 312 made the swift transition to online continuous learning for the remainder of the 19-20 school year as did the entire state of Kansas, a colleague said to me, ‘Your students already do this don’t they?’.  That statement gave me a sense of peace; that because of their opportunities with the courses of CTe Learning my students are better prepared and equipped with the tools and mindset for the eLearning atmosphere.  As an educator facilitating the courses, it also gave me a starting point on how to tailor the rest of my classes so that my students could succeed outside of the classroom in their new learning environments.”

Jessica Wilson Business Educator was recognized in 2019 for her work in preparing the next generation of web professionals.

Haven High School is in its sixth year teaching this Web and Mobile Application Development course. As of 2020, Jessica Wilson has grown her program at Haven to become the most credentialed high school in Kansas and one of the top in the nation.

Steve Waddell, founder and lead developer of CTeLearning.com, said “It is great to see schools shine during this crisis. Ms. Wilson and her students are showing that the Haven HS students are not slowing down at all. Honestly, we have worked with Haven for years and we are not surprised. Haven’s administration and teachers are the best. So, congratulations to Cory and Jevon for all their hard work. We also need to shout out Principal Moore for all his support for Ms. Wilson’s program. And to Jessica – fantastic job. I am sure your students understand what a gift your program is giving them for their career pathways and futures.

Ms. Wilson teaches a number of Business, Career and Technical Education courses including Web Design and Development, Mobile Application Development and Coding and 3D Video Game Design. All of these programs are online and allow Ms. Wilson to offer continuous education for all her Business Ed students

Not only did the students create a number of websites, earn certifications in Ethics in the Workplace, and build a future-ready portfolio, but they have now added international industry-recognized credentials they can show college recruiters, future employers or future clients if they decide to start their own web design firm.

“With all the Coronavirus disruption of our nation’s schools, we are so very proud of Ms. Wilson’s students. They are showing what students can do even in these trying times. All of us here at WebProfessionals.org love seeing students take these first important steps towards high demand STEAM / STEM careers in App Design and Development. Their success is even a bit more sweet considering all the struggles our schools are going through at the moment,” commented Mark DuBois, Executive Director of the Web Professionals Association.

Haven Students Leading

You would think that the most credentialed school in Kansas would be in one of the larger cities. But Haven is not a large school or school district. In career preparation and industry-recognized certifications,  Haven students are leading the pack.

In 2019, Haven HS was recognized by the Web Professionals Association, their students earning the most certifications of any High School in Kansas.

“I love seeing this. My family homesteaded in the beautiful Flint Hills. With all that is happening today, I hope this drives home that high tech, high demand career education can happen and should happen everywhere. As companies require people to work from home we need to ask why not then live where you want to live and do the work you are passionate about. It reminds us that we should think of the possibilities  of Living Rural, Learning Rural and Working Global,” said Steve Waddell of CTe Learning.
