Manhattan High School – Students Receive Mobile Application Professional Industry Certifications
Manhattan, Kansas May 24, 2018 – Nine Manhattan High School Students are the newest Kansas High School Students to earn their Mobile Application Design and Development industry credentials.
These students owe their opportunity to earn these new credentials to Manhattan High School’s Business Educator Kathy Ricketts. This is Kathy’s first year teaching the Web and Mobile Application Industry Certification curriculum. As you know, the first year of a new course takes extra effort, and all of Ms. Ricketts hard work paid off for her school and students.
High Demand STEM and STEAM Design Coding Jobs
Great business educators never work in a vacuum, and we want to give special thanks to her administration team lead by Principal Greg Hoyt and Superintendent Dr. Marvin Wade. All of their support was critical to helping make this latest success at USD 383 happen.
Her students’ industry certifications were earned by completing the Web and Mobile Application Industry Certification curriculum and then sitting for a proctored online exam at MHS. Web Professionals Association offers the industry certification and exam.
The WebProfessionals.org is the international industry association for IT professionals engaged in web development, connected applications, and mobile app development.
The WebProfessionals.org have been serving Web, App and IT professionals for over 25 years. WebProfessionals.org are proud of their professional outreach work and supports SkillsUSA, WorldSkills International and numerous competitions and events that help learners with their professional career goals.

The industry certification is an optional element for this course. Many students take the course for only High School credit. Those who want to gain the coveted industry credentials must receive a minimum course grade, meet all project performance requirements as required.
Meet all career portfolio and presentation requirements. Exhibit professionalism in all class activities and pass the credentials exam. Ms. Rickett’s students took the proctored exam at Manhattan High.

There is still this myth, which if you want to work in web and app development careers, you must leave the small town or rural community and move to a large urban space. Those days are long gone and have been for a while. Kathy, USD 383 and her students helping to kill that myth.
