STEM Interns – Students Kicking Their Paid Internships into High Gear

Kimberly Schor, Online STEM Educator, arranged a mentor meeting with Steve Waddell for two of her students who have been placed in paid internships through CTeL’s Paid Internship Program.  Not surprising, there was much laughter and fun as interns Kiara and Landon asked questions, shared ideas and worked through the process they will use to do their intern work with Steve and Kim.

“This is a real internship. You are helping businesses solve problems. You are taking your new STEM skills you learned in class and using them to help others, and honestly, it does not get any more real than this.” Mrs. Schor said to her students as the meeting kicked off.

BSO (Branson Online School – Branson CO) students Kiara and Landon are getting immersed in the real world with some very real-world problems as they step up and show they have what it takes to work in STEM careers. The internships during this spring semester.

Kiara’s internship is with a company in Kansas City. An established company who wants add growth by attracting more young millennial business within a focused geographical space.  Kiara’s challenge is to analyze the company’s web presence. Then develop additional strategies and actions they can take to improve the company’s messaging to the target audience. She plans to include in her action items how to leverage website inbound and outbound social media approaches to support an expanded marketing effort. Kiara’s course work, newly earned industry credentials, and entrepreneurial spirit positions her well for this internship.
